Key Points
Safety for the Soul
by Jeffrey R. Holland, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
In the last days, calamities will befall us but it is more than just physical. Even the very elect will fall when deceived by the adversary.
Tree of Life
The Book of Mormon opens with the parable of the tree of life. Dark mists fall on all the people: man, woman and child – good and bad. It is only by clinging to an iron rod that allows people to reach the tree of life.
Safe Harbor of God
God provides us with safe harbor through: (i) love, (ii) healing, (iii) help, and (iv) hope. God provides this through Christ, and He urges all to come unto him and be perfected.
Blood Testimony
Joseph and Hyrum Smith knew they were about to die as they were taken to prison. Hyrum bent a corner of the page of the Book of Mormon, from which he was reading, that said: “And now I, Moroni, bid farewell … until we shall meet before the judgment-seat of Christ.” They died proclaiming the Book of Mormon was the word of God.
Book of Mormon Self-Evident
For 179 years the Book of Mormon has been attacked with failed theories of origins. There is no answer for an unlearned boy to have written this book. No wicked man would have written a book such as this. The 531 pages of literary and Semitic complexity is a powerful testimony of the true origin of this book.
God Provides Safety
God always provides safety for the soul. God has done that in these latter days by providing us with the Book of Mormon. If we treasure the teachings of the Book of Mormon, we will not be deceived. Neither your heart nor your faith will fail you in these last days.
